The blue water sailing school aboard Elmo’s Fire is restricted to teenagers of between 14-17. The course is open to both beginners and experienced sailors who will be assigned to carry out daily onboard tasks that include navigation, cooking, mooring and cleaning. The boys and girls will be arranged in watches of 2-3 hours during the day (and at night during nighttime navigation). They will be in the safe hands of Vittorio Malingri and his crew who will ensure maximum safety at all times. During the course, Elmo’s Fire will depart from and return to La Spezia, taking in the Capraia islands, Gorgona and northern Corsica. The programme will cover the operation of the boat and the rudiments of navigation such as dead reckoning, but attention is also paid to proper maintenance of deck equipment such as winches, ropes, etc. Last year’s programme was a great success and so this year we are repeating the course on the following three cruises: New courses in June 2005
